Way Back Wednesday #6

Guess what day it is!!

Yes, you guessed it! Not just hump day…. WAY BACK WEDNESDAY!!

Welcome back to the 6th episode, today features a polish collection circa 2014. I actually did not hunt these girls down, I just happened to spot them on a random stroll down the beauty aisle at Kmart. The display caught my attention, I googled them but weren’t able to find out much just that they are textured finish.

I liked these because the colors weren’t the common colors that brands were releasing like the reds, oranges, pinks. I remember these being semi sheer on the first two coats, but the third coat covered it opaque.

Here’s Rimmel’s 2014 textured finish polish collection “Sweetie Crush”.

Were you able to nail these?

Stay tuned for next week’s episode 7 of Way Back Wednesday, thanks for reading!

I’ve got plans

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a lover of journals and the freedom it allows a person to be one with your thoughts. My mother was never a fan of it because she always mentioned the possibility of it landing in the wrong hands (or eyes). I never cared about that as I would always put a “read at your own risk” warning label on the front of my journals lol.

Planners are the same as journals but different if that makes any sense. One can still jot down their thoughts AND include daily reminders of important daily activities. I have taken a liking to planners, Create 365 The Happy Planner to be specific. I went back and forth trying to decide the best one that represents me (which you’ll see is so me). I can literally spend hours in Michael’s, Hobby Lobby & Joann’s looking at the various styles of planners.

I tell you no lie that I stumbled upon a “plan with me” (PWM) video on YouTube and I was immediately sold! Just the way you can buy or make sticker kits to spruce up your planner set, my creative gears were set in motion. Y’all remember my paper pad post, those will come in handy too!!

Now Create 365/The Happy Planner/ MAMBI (Me & My Big Idea) recently released a new Happy Planner Girl collection of 12 planners (along with matching accessories) exclusive to Hobby Lobby & Joann’s Fabric on October 16. From the moment they uploaded a showcase preview on their YouTube channel of the entire collection, I set my eyes on one and went on a mission.

I managed to snag these at Hobby Lobby last Friday cause a girl needs to use those 40% off coupons (and not pay shipping).

I chose Glam Girl

And a few of its accessories

I also purchased some sticker books

This planner is dated but I’m anticipating using this planner for a very long time…. Glam IS my jam!!
Are you the planner type? If so, what are currently using and what’s your favorite planner brand?

If you’re interested in seeing more planners, you can check them out HERE on their site.

Sweetest Day FOTD

If you’re from the Chi there’s only a small number of excuses I’ll accept explaining why you don’t know about Sweetest Day!!
To be fair, if my man wasn’t from Chicago I probably wouldn’t have known either lol. So yeah he schooled me about the whole “Valentine’s Day for men” ordeal. Since he moved thousands of miles here to Florida for the sake of our relationship I do try to oblige his “special occasion”. Now that I think of it, then I don’t need to get him a Valentine’s Day gift right?!

Here’s my Sweetest Day look, I used Juvia’s place “The Magic” & “Sahara” palette for this look.

I couldn’t decide on whether to wear a nude lip or a gold lip, but I ended up wearing a nude lip.

Shirt is from Macy’s.

Way Back Wednesday #6- Nails Inc.

I hope y’all are as proud of my dedication to the WBW posts as I am, I’m excited to see how far I can go in my collection!

So in front of the camera lens is episode 5 which features some throwback polishes circa 2012! The first time I saw swatches of these polishes was by The Polishaholic (see post here). I didn’t really frequent Sephora at the time, I mostly bought my lacquer from drug stores. After I purchased all 4 I felt bad because they were a bit pricey ($9.50), but once tried the formula and like it; the results began to override my buyer’s remorse!

Do you remember (Michael Jackson voice)

My favorite shade is Topping Lane (pink one).

Thanks for reading and stay tuned to episode 6.

Way Back Wednesday #5- Revlon

*High five for ya girl keeping up with the WBW posts!!!

So back in 2013, Revlon (a brand I don’t normally purchase polishes from) released a set of scented polishes. When I think of scented polishes I remember growing up playing with toy nail polish sets, which smelled like candy.

Well Revlon came out with their adult version lol and it was a hit!! I found myself running behind all the blog posts relating that it’s been spotted. There I was going to and fro all the drugstores for my next hit of lacquer lol.

Remember these?

I recently saw these in a Kmart clearance bin, I didn’t swipe because I remember that a few of these tend to have an overwhelming scent. Loved the formula though!!

Thanks for reading!!

Way Back Wednesday #4- Duck

The winner for #4 episode of Way Back Wednesday is the spawn from a comical “reality” show Duck Dynasty. Say what you want but I enjoyed watching this show. The wit of the brothers, wives, parents and kids just put me in a happy place to see a family enjoying each other.

One day prancing through Walmart clearance aisle I spotted these polishes, never knew they even existed until that moment. I did know that they had other promotional items like cups and swamp themed placemats and such, but what a pleasant surprise to see polish! I was there for it!! These released back in 2014.

I like the glitter based formula, had zero problems with the application. If these polishes was just a trial run, they should have made more for a marathon. I hope my thoughts convey to you that I’d buy more if produced lol.

Did you see these in Walmart? Better yet, did you ever watch the show?
