Way Back Wednesday #6- Nails Inc.

I hope y’all are as proud of my dedication to the WBW posts as I am, I’m excited to see how far I can go in my collection!

So in front of the camera lens is episode 5 which features some throwback polishes circa 2012! The first time I saw swatches of these polishes was by The Polishaholic (see post here). I didn’t really frequent Sephora at the time, I mostly bought my lacquer from drug stores. After I purchased all 4 I felt bad because they were a bit pricey ($9.50), but once tried the formula and like it; the results began to override my buyer’s remorse!

Do you remember (Michael Jackson voice)

My favorite shade is Topping Lane (pink one).

Thanks for reading and stay tuned to episode 6.

Way Back Wednesday #4- Duck

The winner for #4 episode of Way Back Wednesday is the spawn from a comical “reality” show Duck Dynasty. Say what you want but I enjoyed watching this show. The wit of the brothers, wives, parents and kids just put me in a happy place to see a family enjoying each other.

One day prancing through Walmart clearance aisle I spotted these polishes, never knew they even existed until that moment. I did know that they had other promotional items like cups and swamp themed placemats and such, but what a pleasant surprise to see polish! I was there for it!! These released back in 2014.

I like the glitter based formula, had zero problems with the application. If these polishes was just a trial run, they should have made more for a marathon. I hope my thoughts convey to you that I’d buy more if produced lol.

Did you see these in Walmart? Better yet, did you ever watch the show?

KBShimmer Fall 2017 Collaboration collection

*press release*

In addition to some bomb behind polishes set to release, read up on some fun information about the polishes in the collection and their creators.
A few years ago, we created a winter collection with the help of some very special people, bloggers! This fall we have 12 polishes created with inspiration from some of your favorite people on the KBShimmer blogger team, rounded out by 2 polishes dreamed up by KBShimmer Owner, Christy Rose. “Working with another person to create a polish based on their vision, their inspiration photo is always one of the hardest, but most rewarding things we do. That moment when you know you matched what was in their head, that is the best!” says Rose. These 14 polishes will launch September 23rd, 2017 at Polish Con Chicago, with online sales starting Friday, October 13th. The fall collection will be the first to feature KBShimmer’s new 5 free polish base and retail for $9.25.

High-rise To The Occasion- Michelle from Ehmkay Nails wanted a polish that expressed her photos of the holidays in NYC. The steel of the high-rise buildings, the twinkle of the holiday decor, and the glow of the violet up lighting inspired this crelly polish. A light gray color, this polish has a soft violet shimmer, while pops of rainbow metallic flakes give this shade perfectly NYC look.

Pearls Gone Wild – Amy from McPolish gave us beautiful photos of nature at its shining best, from a softly glowing starry sky, to shimmering opals and natural stones. This super sparkly polish is filled with micro and small holographic glitters, and a red shimmer that shifts to copper, gold and pink. This holographic polish feels like wearing jewels on your nails.

I Don’t Want No Shrubs- Jen from My Nail Polish Obsession is a West Coast gal, so fall for her is full of beautiful flowers and bright colors, just like her inspiration photo. Those vibrant floral photos spilled into this bright fuchsia pink shade. Filled with micro golden flakes and shimmer, this hot pink polish will make you wish for warmer days.

Stop And Smell The Rosé – One of Christy’s obsessions is rose gold, from phones, to jewelry, to wine, rose gold is life! This softly pink, near copper shade is the perfect match for those that like to stop and smell the rosé!

Pun-kin Spice Latte – When Valesha from Peachy Polish sent us photos of her inspiration, a copper tub and terracotta pots, we knew that fall was near. This terracotta, near pumpkin shade is filled with a subtle copper shimmer, which gives this near crème polish a sophisticated glow to it.

Oh My Gourd – Caramel apples, butterscotch, changing leaves and gourds signal that fall is near. This creamy butterscotch shade is made for fall. Pair with your favorite sweater, a pair of brown boots and your latte, and lets go head out to enjoy the crisp weather that only autumn can bring.

Espresso Yourself – Gaby from LacquerLoon sent us some amazing photos to work from. Rich chocolate, warm coffee, and glimmering clothes in shades of brown, copper and gold inspired this glitter filled shade. Near in finish to our Mega Flame polishes, this rich brown shade is filled with copper and gold holographic micro glitters for a polish ideal for autumn.

Olive Or Twist – Lovely Mishra from Nail It Lovely asked up to be inspired by rich gold tones and soothing shades of olive. This polish in our holo glow finish is the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. A deepened olive color, this polish shimmers with holo glow flakes and a golden flash that shines in the light.

#squadghouls -Holly from Miss Holly Berries inspiration photos were filled with the deep olive green shades of the forest, goldenrod yellows and autumn oranges. The best way I could express that was in a deepened olive jelly filled with glitters that shift in shades of orange, green and gold. And when naming this polish, I learned that Holly is a huge straight to DVD scary movie fan, so I knew that we had to tie in a campy horror name for this fall polish! #squadghouls

Northern Frights – Judy from Beauty Judy was inspired by the dark night sky and the stunning hues of the Northern Lights. This shifty shade is the aurora borealis in a bottle. Filled with holo flakes, this polish shifts based on viewing angle from an emerald green, to a deep indigo purple, to an almost navy, for the perfect sky inspired polish.

Better Lake Than Never – Alicia from Delishious Nails gave us a stunning palette of rich, deep blues, turquoises, and teals to work from, and I knew this would be a perfect fit for our Holo Glow finish. A jewel toned teal leaning blue, this polish is filled with holo glow flakes that accent a strong turquoise shimmer that makes this polish shine bright.

Peach For The Sky- When Antoinette from aricedotcom gave us beautiful photos of autumn leaves against turquoise skies, I knew I wanted to create a soft sky blue polish to bring a pop of color to fall. This creamy shade is loaded with a peachy copper shimmer, for a soft shade that will make you imagine jumping into leave piles on a bright fall afternoon.

Let’s Fang Out – Sam from Sam Nailed It posted a stunning picture of deep burgundy vampy lips as her inspiration photo for a crème polish. I knew with the glittery polish from Lisa in the same shade it was a perfect match! The cream polish is almost a plum color, with hints of maroon and aubergine, this is the perfect autumn crème!

Lady And The Vamp – Lisa from Cosmetic Sanctuary knew she wanted a deep vampy color burgundy red in our Mega Flame finish, and we delivered! This almost plum color polish is loaded with holographic glitters, with hints of maroon and aubergine for the ultimate sparkle. For a fun manicure, pair with Let’s Fang Out!

Stay tuned for swatches!!

Way Back Wednesday #3- Sally Hansen

*Three fingers up*

Hey y’all, 3 down with many more to go. I’m bring back from the memory back these textured finish polishes by Sally Hansen. I was so excited to have these, again back when textured finish was all the rage (not saying it’s not still cause I’ll still rock them). I promise you that textured finish polishes are not all that I’ll be posting!!

Do tell, did you buy these? If so, how’d they do your nails lol!

Stay tuned for WBW #4 and thanks for reading!!

Way Back Wednesday #2- Milani

I hope I’ve made you say zzzzzzzomg she went back… I aim to please (wink).

Rummaging through the stash I bumped into these old dusties. I can remember when these came out, it was when textured polish was all the rage! Brands were testing their bait (me) and I bit on the Milani one lol.

I remember the yellow being my ultimate favorite when I wore it, I will admit that the rough finish took some getting used to.

What do you remember about these?

Thanks for reading!

Way Back Wednesday #1- Nicole by OPI

Today, here at Nailmatticbeauty I’m starting a series called “Way back Wednesday”, in memory of polishes that has stuck out to me in my memory bank from way back when…. I’ll be featuring polishes/collections that released a while ago that was popular or LE. Those were the days when I ran to every Walgreens, Kmart or Walmart looking for certain polishes JUST so that it can now collect dust in my stash lol (you laugh cause it’s true for you too).

Walk with me down memory lane while I reminisce on my nails’ wet dreams lol.

My first feature is the Nicole by OPI “Roughles” textured polish collection. These 4 colors released back in 2014, I actually didn’t like the textured polishes that much until these came out. I loved the fun Easter colored themes to them (which they did release around that holiday). I actually like these with or without top coat.

Did you purchase these? For me, I couldn’t wait to get my nails on these (or these on my nails rather lol). I ended up buying doubles of the pink & yellow color ANNNNDDDDD I got more of them when they went in Kmart’s clearance bin for $3 (they retailed for $7.99).

Don’t be shy, tell me…. Are these still in your stash?

I’ve created the hashtag #lacquerlivesmatter for all the way back lacquers in my collection. On WBW’s I’ll be searching the hashtag #lacquerlivesmatter to see your “way back lacquers”, so join in on the party. Tag me also, can’t wait to see them!!

Kiss Nail Polish from Dollar Tree

“I already have that color I don’t need it”-said no woman ever (especially not me) lol. When these polishes first released, I spotted them in Kmart. They were priced for more than $2 and I just wasn’t wow’d enough to swipe.

It was at Dollar Tree when I lost my memory lol. I saw these for a dollar and it made me holla!!

There isn’t anything unique about the colors but the formula is amazing, these can easily be one coaters.
Check out the colors I bought.

Aforementioned about the formula, it is excellent and dries to a glossy finish, I didn’t swatch these with a top coat. These could easily be one coaters. I did have a slight application problem with Fantasia & Sweet Angel being a little on the thick side, but waiting in between layers always helps–along with polish thinner.

Now I’m not one to tell you what to do buuuuuut go get you a few lol!
